Three Things For Success: Your Daily To-Do List

Oct 29, 2014 | Success

A healthy life is often viewed as a mere side-effect of success, but that’s not the whole story. Money is a wonderful and powerful tool, but it’s not what makes life rich.

A healthy life requires proactive planning just as a healthy financial life does. It’s not always easy to make room on your to-do list, but these habits are daily essentials. When you streamline your day with these three things for success, you have more energy, more focus, and more time for all the things that truly make life rich.

Successful people make time for these, every day, even when (in fact, especially when) they are busy. Does your to-do list include these three things for success?

1. A break. It may sound counter-intuitive, but one of the best things you can do at work is walk away from it. Stepping away from your desk and switching to a totally different task for a while allows your inner creative genius a chance to emerge. Whether it’s another project, a mundane chore, or a fun outing, shifting your focus and your setting can work wonders.

2. Your health. When you invest in your health, the rewards are both immediate and last a lifetime. Taking good care of yourself is often the first thing to go when you get busy, but you can’t afford to be last on your list of priorities. Sleep, eat right, and squeeze in some exercise, even if it’s a brisk fifteen minute walk around the block at lunch time – you’ll be happier, sharper, and more productive, both at work and at home.

3. Some fun! Children laugh hundreds of times every day, but as adults we tend to lose that habit. Play is one of the most effective ways to strengthen and invigorate your creativity (see #1 on this list!). Not to mention, they say laughter is the best medicine for good reason.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
